quick hits

1. two posts ago i told everyone to go see the new ricky gervais movie, 'the invention of lying.' then, in my last post i ranted about people being offended and that they shouldnt be unless they have grounds to be or 'standing.' (btw, i realize the post has a lot of holes and inconsistencies. it was more of a ramble instead of a well thought out rant. oh well). well apparently, as mentioned by paige in the comments, early reviews indicate that the movie has quite a bit of religious commentary. i told all my readers, who i think are mostly religious, though i dont know, to see a movie that pokes at religion, something that they all have standing to be offended with. not sure what you call that. unintentional?

2. something i have watched and so i do feel comfortable promoting it, is the tv show 'community.' its on nbc. not better than 30 rock, but way better than the office. the office is boring. the jokes are hardly inspired. they are running off of past popularity. not sure if they are even trying anymore or if they just dont have it. 'community' does have it though. good timing. clever jokes that actually make you laugh. community is like the young player that just broke into the big leagues and is trying to stay on the team and show everyone that he is good and deserves to be there. he has talent, but more importantly, he really tries hard. unlike the seasoned veteran the office that is just there to pick up the check. speaking of sports and young players:

3. im sure most people have already seen this but i thought it was still worth posting. msnbc has picked it up which means most media outlets have already mentioned it. but for all those people that come here for their news or sports updates, here it is. a pretty cool video.

That baseball thing is awesome. Obviously we don't watch our local news or I would have heard about it.

Community. I don't love it but it is funny at times. I laughed out loud that first episode when all the girls are mouthing everything and that guy thinks he's gone deaf. That was great.

We're really enjoying the office so far though.

I agree with almost everything you say. Screw people that have or don't have standing. Invention of Lying looks really good. Most people will probably be offended, but that's fine. It inspires me. I don't find the office that funny--never did as much as the British version. Although, when Dwight locked the doors and started a fire and the fat guy threw a chair through the glass of the vending machine to get chips (during the fire)--I think we can all appreciate that. I don't find Community all that funny--though I really love Joel McHale. He is at his best when we makes from of Ryan Secrest. You should watch the hulu clip from the Tonight Show where he does it. The Tonight Show clip with Gervais is also good. Put those on your To Do list.
